The FNB Live Whisky Festival
This festival is held at the CTICC in connection with the Cape Times, and features 180 top whisky brands. The festival is the largest whisky festival in the world. There are 15 one hour whisky tasting workshops from which to choose.

The Big Walk
The Big Walk is a charity sporting event where participants walk over 80km from Simons Town to Cape Town. The walk is the largest of its kind in the world and usually attracts more than 30,000 participants.

Cape Town International Opera Festival

Cape Times Waterfront Wine Festival
The Cape is world-famous for its high-quality of wine produced in the area and this event showcases the Cape’s finest. Viticulturalists and wine lovers can sample hundreds of local and international wines at the beautiful V&A Waterfront.

Currie Cup Rugby
This domestic tournament runs from July to October and showcases the best of South African rugby. The gruelling competition sees teams from each province featuring the country’s best players battling against one another in stadiums around the country, in what is locally known as “the beautiful game.”

Good Food and Wine Show
The very best of the foodies meet in May for the Good Food and Wine Show, which offers visitors an exhibition with exquisite cuisine and delectable wines. Walk through the stalls where food displays, live cooking shows and equipment specialists will entice you into the world of gastronomy and cuisine.

The Two Oceans Marathon
This running event is known as the ‘world’s most beautiful marathon’ and is a 56km trek across the fine scenery of the Cape Peninsula. Each year tens of thousands of athletes compete in this world-class running event.

The Pick n’ Pay Argus Cycle Tour
This sporting marathon is a hugely successful event each year, as tens of thousands of cyclists ride through the Cape Peninsula amongst some of the most magnificent scenery in the country. The race is well attended by cyclists from all over the world, including Lance Armstrong in 2010.

The Dunhill Symphony of Fire
This event is a fireworks extravaganza. The V&A Waterfront is transformed into a colourful spectacle as different countries compete against one another by synchronising firework displays to music over 4 days. The final evening offers a play-off guaranteed to set the night sky alight with incredible colours and lights.
